Kathleen Maroney, Owner

Kathleen is the founder and guiding practitioner of Sunflower Bodyworks. In 2004 she completed massage therapy training at Potomac Massage Training Institute (PMTI). She is certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, and licensed by the State of Maryland. She has served on the teaching staff of PMTI and is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association.

Her holistic approach to therapeutic bodywork supports individual comfort and well-being, while facilitating deep relaxation, pain relief, and improved flexibility using a wide variety of therapeutic massage techniques. Each session is client-centered — focused on her client’s individual needs and concerns.

Kathleen practiced yoga for nine years before becoming a Certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor in 2005. She is registered with the national Yoga Alliance and is a member of the Kripalu Yoga Teachers Association. Currently, Kathleen is advancing her yoga teacher training to the 500 hour level through training at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. She believes that yoga is accessible to every body and will enhance flexibility and strength regardless of age and/or abilities. Kathleen’s love of the practice of yoga is reflected in her gentle and joyful teaching style.

Kathleen developed close relationships with the National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH Regional Rehab at Olney) and the Maryland Sports Medicine Center (also in Olney) to allow Sunflower Bodyworks to offer therapeutic massage and yoga that supports rehabilitation efforts.
